Joe Perkins for Circuit Judge
Friends, family, and members of the community: I am proud to announce that I have decided to run for Circuit Judge.
2017 was a great year for my family. We were blessed to welcome into this world our first child – Graham Perkins. Becoming a parent is the greatest joy I have ever experienced. The unity that Fernanda and I feel with Graham inspires me. As a family -- united -- we can overcome any obstacle.
Unity strengthens not just families, but our entire community. In 2018, it is easy to feel that our community is fragmented. I have decided to run for Circuit Judge because I believe that as judge, I can help unite us. Whether one is young, old, Republican, Democrat, black, white, Latino, Asian, Cuban, Haitian, gay, straight, disabled, not disabled, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, or a nonbeliever, we can all agree that a judiciary that is fair, attentive, impartial, and intellectually honest is essential to the functioning of our Republic. I will always uphold these ideals and will never forget that the office I seek is a sacred one.
I am proud to have announced my candidacy by marching, with Fernanda and Graham, in Liberty City's Martin Luther King Day Parade. To quote Dr. King, "If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward." I ask that you move forward with me. I ask for your support for my campaign and for your vote in the August 28, 2018 countywide election.
The road ahead is a long one, but, united, we can overcome any obstacle.
